
Character Backstories
Jack Solve

Jack Solve is a private eye detective and college student. He is a white dark haired male, and has a medium height and build. Jack wears clothing popular in the 1950’s such as suits, trench coats, and a fedora. Jack also has a cigarette in his mouth which is part of his fashion or “look”. His room is decorated the same way he appears. It is old looking with antique 1950’s props like typewriters and radios.
Jack is a student but works in his free time as a private eye. He appears to be making a modest living with his only daily expenses being booze and smokes. He values honest living and the truth but definitely is a bit racist and sexist. He believes males are stronger than females physically and perhaps even mentally.
Jack loves vices. He loves to smoke, drink, and gamble. He loves being a private eye even though it seems like he is having trouble finding work. He loves his weird quirky life style even though it appears to be destructive. Jack fears having to face himself. He drowns his sorrows is alcohol and distractions like gambling and solving other people’s problems. He fears his childhood and origin story which he can’t remember or explain.
Jack also wants to succeed as a private eye and get past obstacles holding him back such debt and constantly being kicked out of dorm halls. Jack is very complicated. He has a lot of emotions but he also tries to hide those emotions with his vices and work. He wants other to be truthful even though he is not very truthful to others or himself. Jack wants others to play by the rules even though he doesn’t always play by the rules. Like his cases, Jack is a mystery.
Jessie Shoot

Jessie Shoot is an only child who has grown up to be very creative. Because she is an only child she developed good people skills by having to go out and make friends. Even though her family isn’t exactly rich, she is attending Temple on a very good scholarship. She has long red hair and coke-bottle glasses. She dresses very comfortably in jeans and a loose fitting flannel shirt. She has a “hipster” look about her.

Jessie is in an unhealthy relationship with Chet Thompson who tries to control her. She is working a freelance videography in her free time outside of class and club activities. She is a part of Films club. She is a free spirit and haves a very open world view. She wants everyone to be happy and live the life they want to live. She loves Chet and his flaws. She loves directing and creating film projects. She loves to tell stories and express herself.
Being framed and banned from her club. She hates Chet by the end of the film and dislikes a lot of his flaws even though she wants to like them. She fears being banned permanently from Films club. She fears having her career being tarnished because of her current predicament. She wants to clear her name and submit her latest film in the film contest. She wants Chet to be happy and to help him with his personal struggles. Jesse’s loose lifestyle can be unhealthy mentally and physically. She doesn’t have a good diet and her relationship with Chet is destructive for the two of them.
Molly Focus

Molly Focus is an Asian woman who dresses very professionally. She keeps her hair pulled back tight and presents herself very professionally. Molly comes from a close family with 2 other siblings, a younger brother and sister. She was active in many film classes in high school and won a local film contest in her home town.
Molly is the president of the film club. She hopes to find an internship with this title on her application. She values hard work and feels a bit entitled. She loves her position but won’t hesitate to step on others to move up in the world.
Molly loves the film industry and her position as the president of a film club. She loves her family and her boyfriend who gives her support when she needs it. She hates Jessie Shoot and her plays for the clubs president position. She hates Jack Solve and his nosing around, but most importantly she hates herself for making the foolish mistake of framing Jessie. Molly fears losing her president position. She fears failing in her career and going nowhere. She loves her family but she fears having to move back home after college.
To remain the president of films club. She wants to move in with her boyfriend who is not receptive to the hints she drops. She wants to frame Jessie and get her out of the film club. However, Molly is a nice loving woman but can let her emotions get the better of her. When she feels threatened or backed into a corner she reacts without thinking and often times puts herself in a bad situation.
Chet Thompson

Chet Thompson is a taller guy with a more muscular build. He has a crew cut hair cut and weighs plain clothes. He sports a white t-shirt and a pair of Jeans. He takes himself very seriously and wants others to see him that way.

Chet comes from an “all American family”. He was a football player and athlete in high school and is also a very good student. He isn’t the bullying type but he doesn’t respect people who disagree with him or live different life styles as him. Even though he adores his girlfriend Jessie Shoot, he also finds problems with her more liberal lifestyle.

Chet is currently breezing through business school. He has no job but is working on getting an internship. He is in a relationship with Jesse Shoot and has a fairly good family life and relationship with his parents. He lives off campus near the University and is active on a flag football team. He believes in hard work and no bull shit. He enjoys some fun but not too much fun.
Chet values staying healthy and living an active lifestyle with nutritious eating and physical activities. He values his relationship with Jessie to a point where it is to obsessive. He is unaware that his personality is becoming a more obsessive as he grows older. He can be very pompous and push his beliefs on others thinking he is helping them. He loves Jessie very much and feels she gives him qualities he doesn’t have like having fun and loosening up. He loves his family and also himself (a little too much). Chet hates slackers, quitters, and people who he perceives to be lazy. He holds people to high standards and hates himself for that. He hates the anger in him he can’t control and the obsessiveness he has which leads to him framing his own girlfriend so he can spend more time with her.
He wants to spend more time with Jessie and wants her to change for him. He also wants to succeed in his professional career and be an executive in a large company. His obsessive personality leads himself to be healthy physically but not mentally. He holds people to high standards and pushes away people who he feels may change him or people he can’t change. He is very controlling and that is what causes his demise.
Iris Clark

Iris Clark is a very insecure person who went through a depression phase in her past. She was jealous of Jessie Shoot getting a lot of attention and attempted to sabotage a project of hers. After getting caught Iris has enlisted help from a therapist.
Iris is a sophomore at the University. She has no other job and is working on herself before she goes out into the world for work. She is very accepting of people and wishes they would be of her. Because of her insecurity iris’s attitude is often misconstrued for being smug or arrogant. She loves her dad. She loves working in film because she feels she can express herself through her creations. She hated Jesse at one point in her life. She often finds herself hating herself and wishes she could be a more confident person. She fears people will reject her and not accept her. She fears she will have a hard time adjusting to life after college.
Iris wants to be noticed and praised. As part of her therapy she also wants to reconcile with Jessie but has a hard time approaching her. She is a flawed girl with a bad self-image. She pushes people away from her before they can reject her. Iris has made bad decisions in the past which has created an image people have of her.
